Wilderness Redefined and the Benefits of Being in the Wild

Recently I received a note from James Black who operates a website called Wilderness Redefined. This is a beautiful project that, like To the Wild, encourages people to get outdoors for their mental and physical health.

In October, James published a terrific story called 12 Benefits of Being Outdoors. “There’s plenty of research to back up the claim that spending time in the great outdoors is good for your health and well-being,” says James. But he also notes a shocking statistic: Americans spend 93% of their lives indoors.
